Welcome to the MSPT Coffee Talk 2023 Series!

Plant Molecular Farming (PMF) is a revolutionary technique that uses plants to produce high-value recombinant proteins and other compounds. It involves transferring genes of interest into plants using deconstructed viral vectors or stable gene transfer into the plant genome.

This method is a game-changer in the field of manufacturing, as it offers several advantages over conventional systems like bacteria, yeast, or mammalian cells. PMF is cost-effective, scalable, and easy to adopt, making it an attractive alternative for producing recombinant proteins and secondary metabolites.

In the first part of the presentation, you will learn about PMF and how it is changing the manufacturing landscape. The second part of the presentation will focus on how PMF is used to make biologics, with tobacco plant-made cancer immunotherapeutics as an example.
