Welcome to the MSPT Coffee Talk 2022 Series!

With the ever-present threat of Covid-19 looming on the horizon, the need for proper disinfection and sanitization becomes all the more important. Standard operating procedures require specific surfaces to be disinfected to prevent the spread of Covid-19, demonstrating the role of disinfectants in the fight against the pandemic. Elsewhere, disinfectants are also used to sterilise laminar flow cabinets, preventing septic infections for millions of people worldwide. However, each and every bottle of disinfectant made available to us has its own story to tell, beginning with its development up to its production and registration before it is made available on our shelves.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Long Chiau Ming is a clinical researcher-cum-academic with diverse training and exposure in countries including Malaysia, Brunei, Australia, and England. He graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) and a Master of Clinical Pharmacy from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He worked as a hospital pharmacist for three years before pursuing his PhD at the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, University of Bath, England. He has continued to work in academia and industry focusing on clinical medicine and regulatory affairs. MSPT is pleased to have Assoc. Prof. Dr. Long Chiau Ming in our midst to share various insights on the registration of disinfectants.
